Katharyne's
Laboratory

Welcome to my laboratory! This is a collection of free original, experimental creative projects to explore. These may come and go. Geomanci and the Framework Encyclopedia are ready to try. The Fnord Detector, Infinite Improbability Calculator and Millbrook require an API key from Claude.

Click "Add a Key" in the top right corner to add yours. There are easy instructions to follow and you can check your usage regularly by clicking the Usage button.

Please have fun with them and let me know at hi@katharyne.com if you like them or if you have feedback!

// FREE · EXPERIMENTAL · FEEDBACK WELCOME
01
// RHETORIC ANALYSIS · ROBERT ANTON WILSON
Fnord Detector
● LIVE

Paste any text (a sales email, AI feedback, marketing copy, a LinkedIn post) and find out how it is working on you. The detector identifies hidden persuasion techniques, scores manipulation density, and highlights which elements are doing the rhetorical work. Particularly useful for checking whether your AI is flattering you instead of actually helping you.

02
// PROBABILITY · DOUGLAS ADAMS TRIBUTE
Infinite Improbability Calculator
● LIVE

Describe your plans for the day, or drop in a scene you are writing, and the calculator generates a range of events from the boringly inevitable to the cosmically absurd, each assigned precise pseudo-scientific odds. A tribute to Douglas Adams and the studied art of finding the universe unreasonable.

03
// TOWN SIMULATION · ENTREPRENEURSHIP
Millbrook
● LIVE

Millbrook is a browser-based town simulator that builds a working economy from a single founding business. Each turn, Claude places a new business on the map, names its founder, and traces the supply chain connection to its neighbours, showing how one enterprise creates the conditions for the next. The simulation covers opportunity spotting, waste-as-resource thinking, and the role of founder stories in shaping how a business is perceived.

04
// LATERAL THINKING · CREATIVITY ENGINE
Knight's Move
● LIVE

Take a seed idea and apply the chess knight's move: two squares forward to develop the idea along its natural axis, then one square sideways to transplant the underlying mechanic into three unrelated domains. The bridge concept stays the same, the territory changes, and unexpected applications fall out the other side. Useful when you have a good idea and want to see what else it could become.

05
// SACRED GEOMETRY · GENERATIVE ART
Geomanci
● LIVE

Generate sacred geometry and spirograph patterns, then watch them animate. Design for the pleasure of it, or download as vectors to use in your coloring book, embroidery, print projects, or anywhere else a beautiful geometric shape belongs. Runs entirely in your browser. No account, no key, nothing sent anywhere.

06
// REFERENCE
Framework Reference Library
● LIVE

A curated encyclopedia of strategic frameworks, mental models, and thinking tools, annotated with Katharyne's commentary and examples drawn from AI, creator economy, and KDP publishing. Organised across fifteen categories, it is most useful when you need a framework that actually fits your situation rather than the one everyone else reaches for.
